Artist - John Nelson Harris
John Nelson Harris is an award winning wildlife Artist and designer of many Conservation Limited Edition prints and State Duck stamps. As an avid waterfowl hunter and wildlife artist, he believes deeply in the conservation of all wildlife and the protection of their habitats. Over the years, John’s artwork has raised tens of thousands of dollars for many conservation groups throughout the United States and Canada.
Although many of his painting techniques are mostly self-taught, his artistic skills were honed by years of formal training. He attended Brevard Community College before receiving a Bachelor’s of Arts and a Fine Arts degree from the College of Fine Arts at the University of Florida, graduating with Honors in 1984.
John is currently retired, after spending 35 years as cast member working as an Artist Preparator at Walt Disney World’s EPCOT theme park.
Over the last 25 years, John’s other paintings and designs have been selected for many State Duck Stamp Programs. A native Floridian John is the only artist to ever have won the Florida Waterfowl Stamp three times and now is a three time winner of the Louisiana Waterfowl Stamps, as well. He is a two time winner of the California Duck Stamp, has won the Oklahoma State Duck Stamp, the 2023 Washington State Duck Stamp and the 2024 and 2025 Montana State Duck Stamps. John’s other achievements include being chosen to design two Canadian Conservation Waterfowl Stamps, winning two Ducks Unlimited State Artist of the Year awards and inclusion in the prestigious 1999 Birds in Art Exhibition held annually in Wausau, Wisconsin.
