As a 6th generation Montanan, I was fortunate to be raised by parents that always had time to take my brothers and I camping, fishing and hunting every chance they could.  My love for Montana compelled me to become an outfitter.  I have been a licensed Montana Outfitter for the past 48 years.  My company name is Montana High Country Tours, Inc.  Over those years I have held Beaverhead and Big Hole River permits, Smith River permits, Bear Trap Canyon Whitewater permits, Beaverhead National Forest permits, BLM permits and DNRC permits.  I believe my love for the Montana outdoors and my personal and business history has and will continue to help me to serve Montana on the State Parks and Recreation Board.

Our Montana State Parks are a real asset to both residents and our out of state visitors.  I personally have had the pleasure of visiting 42 of our 55, soon to be 56, unique state parks and plan on visiting the remainder in the near future.  The range of Montana’s state parks covers all regions and offers beautiful varying landscapes.  Whether you are looking for a short day trip or an extended camping trip I guarantee you will find it in one of Montana’s state parks.

Kathy McLane proudly served as the Community Resource Specialist at Mid-Rivers Communications covering 30,000 square miles of eastern MT communities before retiring.  With a personal focus on assisting emerging agricultural industries that can enhance our rural economy, Kathy also enjoyed working with business efforts for potatoes, peas/lentils and industrial hemp and she served on the Montana Cooperative Development Board, Montana Chamber of Commerce Board, Montana Cowboy Hall of Fame, and currently is a member of the Southeast Montana Tourism Council.

The pulse of our rural communities is strong.  Recently retired, Kathy plans to participate fully in Montana life by pulling from her entire employment history, which also included a decade in the federal political realm (US Senator Conrad Burns and US Representative Rick Hill).  She continues service on numerous local, regional and state boards to support and enhance efforts to make this beautiful State of Montana even more awesome.  Why be lazy?  It is much more fulfilling to feel the rhythm of the pulse!
